Posted: 05/01/12 20:37Youth Development Proposals
Dear Members,
It is imperative that you all get to view this powerpoint to see what the future porposals are for youth development in this Country
http://www.bbdjfl.org/admin/documents/FAYouthDevelopmentProposals.pps
Over the last two years The FA has been undergoing research and consultation into youth football, discussing different changes to the game and listening to the views of grassroots coaches, clubs, leagues and children across the country. This process finished at the end of September 2011 and has then been seen by a number of internal committees at The Football Association, including Football Development Committee, Referee’s Committee, Youth Committee and National Game Board.
A presentation sharing findings from two years research, presentations and discussions across the country is at the attached link. Please send any thoughts or requests for more support in any particular areas through to yourkidsyoursay@TheFA.com where help will be given wherever possible.
The FA are very excited as to what the future holds for youth football as we move towards making the game even better for young people.
Further information and video clips used during the series of roadshows conducted by The FA can be found on the 'Your Kids, Your Say' section of TheFA.com.
Manchester Futsal Club U18 Trials
The club are looking to recruit a host of talented players to form a squad to compete in the FA National Futsal League under 18s Championship in April, and also the prospect of being part of the future of the Manchester Futsal Club first team.
The Club has enjoyed recent success after lifting the FA Futsal Cup in July, and are currently challenging for league honours after a strong start to the season.
Now, the chance has arisen for youngsters to build on the achievements laid down by the current squad in order to make Manchester one of the most powerful forces in the FA National Futsal League.
Furthermore, should your talent stand out from the rest and be deemed exceptional, you could be presented with the opportunity to represent your country at international level.
Manchester currently has a number of players who have been selected to compete on the international scene in UEFA and FIFA Futsal competitions, and you could be next on the list of several young hopefuls vying for the chance to become futsal’s next star.
So, where does your exciting journey begin?
Right now!
All you have to do is send an email with your name, age, playing experience and contact details to: info@manchesterfutsal.com by 27 January 2012 and you shall be contacted shortly after to confirm the date and venue.
Remember, this opening is available to anyone under the age of 18. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Martlew’s Mile 4 Myeloma
Hello,
I am Steve Martlew from Whelley Alexandra JFC in this league.
Many of you will know that I was diagnosed with Myeloma, an incurable cancer of the blood, earlier this year. In March 2012 I will turn 40 (I know I don’t look a day over 27!!!) and I want to mark the occasion by raising as much money as possible for Myeloma UK.
Myeloma UK are the charity that provide accurate information and support people who are diagnosed with the disease, as well as funding specialist doctors and nurses, clinical research and even lobbying the government to bring effective cancer treating drugs to the market much quicker than currently happens.
On Saturday the 25th February I aim to walk 4 laps of the outfield at Wigan Cricket Club which is the equivalent to 1 mile. I would like to invite colleagues and their families to join me in completing my Mile 4 Myeloma. The only condition is you either make a donation to my Just Giving page in advance of the Mile or you get some sponsorship and bring it with you on the day.
The players, parents and coaches from Whelley Alexandra Junior football Club JFC and Wigan Wizards junior cricket section where I am both secretary and coach; as well as senior cricketers, friends and family will be joining me in my mile and I am hoping to raise £1000 on the day. Hopefully the weather will be supportive too!!!
The cricket club will be open on the day and you are welcome to enjoy a well deserved drink after completing your mile. For all you Latics fans out there you will still be able to watch the match against Aston Villa as I am aiming to start at 12.30pm giving you time to hot foot it around the outfield and then down to the DW Stadium.
Please help me support a Charity that has been superb to me since my diagnosis.
For more information on Myeloma click on www.myeloma.org.uk
To access my Just Giving page click on www.justgiving.com/Steven-Martlew
Or you can use the attached sponsorship form if you have a group who would like to raise money for this wonderful cause

Age Group Secretaries required
Dear Members,
The committee is now on the look out for a willing volunteer who would like to take on board the Under 10s section in the New Year.
Unfortunately for us but great news for Marcus Howarth he has outlined in writing his intention to resign his post as Under 10s age group secretary.
Marcus has applied for a new post at work.
The downside is that for the foreseeable future he will not be able to offer his full commitment to the league.
He has therefore taken the difficult decision to step down from the league so that hopefully I can juggle his new work commitments, along with those of the hugely successful job he also does in grassroots football with Mossbank Jnrs.
He states "It goes without saying that I have really enjoyed my time on the League
committee and one day may return.(if you lot will have me), but for the next twelve months I just cannot fit in league duties as well as work and Mossbank."
The committee would like to wish Marcus all the very best on his work commitments and thank him for all the hard work he has put into this league over the years.
Hopefully one day we will see him return to the league, and cointinue the great work he has started.
In addition to Marcus moving on, Angela has outlined her intention to relinquish her role with the girls section at the end of the season and we are seeking somebody to come forward to take up the girls and ladies football in this area and push it forward in the coming years, building on the great work that Angela has started.
I have no doubt the girls will miss Angela, who has always been there for them and has been a stalwart on this league for many years.
We now though need to advertise for a new secretary for thess posts, so anybody who has applied before for another age group, or who wishes to give this years under 10s or the girls from next season a go, please get in touch with the league secretary Lesley Allon (details on committee pages) and submit your interest.
This is a great league, with many great people involved, not only on the committee but in our membership, so I am sure we can get the right ckind of people in place to ensure it goes from strenght to strength

We need as many votes as possible to beat some organisations that have been going for 125 years and, seeing as we only founded 3 years ago, this would be an amazing feat!

Do the Right Thing!
For many years the FA, CFA and coaches up and down the land have been trying to build a footballing infrastructure that is based on winning.
The desire being to reach the money pots of the Football League, Premier League, UEFA Cup slots or Champions League slots.
If a club didn't reach the position their owners, supporters or players demanded then changed was enforced and the merry go round started again.
The demands by the British public for instant success is now so intense that winning is the most important element for any sports star, club or organisation.
Many grassroots coaches fell into the trap of this winning mentality and you can see it now in games in this league with parents, managers and coaches driving the kids on to score that next goal, or do all they can to stop the opposition.
This is where the flaw in this ethos can be clearly seen!
Take the Dutch,Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilians etc all footballing nations who year on year produce some of the most skilful players the world has ever seen.
WHY?
If you study these Countries you will see that the grassroots game is based solely on the development of the player and the game and not on winning!
Let's use a case study
Your team is winning 1 - 0 and your right back receives the ball, as he / she is closed down by 2 players, do you shout "clear it", "get rid", "launch it" or anything similar?
Or do you let the player, relax, lift his or her head and make the decision?
If they make a mistake, do you shout at them, bring them off, ridicule them, or do you tell them to raise their heads, smile, enjoy the game?
No doubt at the end of the match if you spoke to the player and asked them, what they thought, they may say, I should have played it down the line to Jon, or used my pace to get past them or........ (they will know if they have made a mistake, they don't need a lecture from you!)
Guess what though? They will learn and next time this may just have given them the confidence that you will give them full support and encourage them to try something different, so a drop of a shoulder and they are gone, leaving the 2 players behind. Confidence will soar, a trick, a move, a flick will be tried next time.
This player will develop beyond anything that you have seen before and your team will reap the benefits, as will the game.
This year, let's concentrate on developing the players and forget about the results!
Time to change the mindset of British football forever and you can make a big difference in that.

The BBDFL will be running a Sunday outdoor competition starting 10th Sept 2011 for 11aside teams at under 13s to under 18s
In addition we are starting a futsal competition for under 7s, 8s and 9s which will take place in doors at Horwich Leisure Centre each Sunday
The futsal will be guaranteed matches each weekend in a 5 aside competition with roll on roll off subs, 5 second rule to take any free kicks or kick ins and the game will rarely stop
This will be extremely fast paced and ensure that not only will those playing will get great enjoyment and fun, come rain, snow or hail, but they will also improve their skill and technique way above those not playing this form of the game
It has been shown that players who involve themselves in futsal or other skill best games have a better chance to be picked up by professional scouts

THE FA COMMUNITY AWARDS - FA CHARTER STANDARD LEAGUE WINNER
The BBDFL were confirmed as the North West Winners of the FA Charter Standard League Award sponsored by McDonalds in May this year.
Members of the league then received invitations to the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday 8th August 2010, when Jake Humphries (BBC anchor for formula 1 coverage) announced to a large audience of grassroots volunteers, key individuals from the sponsors McDonalds and their guests, that the Bolton, Bury and District Football League had been selected as the National Charter Standard League of the Year 2010.
Also in attendance were many key individuals from the game of football to present the awards and assist with the days proceedings, these included, Sir Trevor Brooking, Sir Geoff Hurst, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Pat Jennings, Lee Sharpe and Scott Minto.
The Chairman Warren Barlow was then invited onto the Wembley pitch at Half time to formally receive the award in front of the crowd.
Warren accepted the trophy on behalf of all the people who are and have been involved in some way in shaping the grassroots football landscape in the Bolton, Bury and District area.We would like to thank everybody for their efforts including the FA, the County FA staff and McDonalds for recognising the work we all do.
This is a tremendous achievement and testamount to the hard work and dedication, all in the league have shown over the years.

Photograph Guidance
Please see the attached guidance which is provided by the Football Association
http://www.bbdjfl.org/admin/documents/CelebratingFootballThroughPhotographsandVideo2.pdf
To summarise there is NOTHING wrong with taking photographs at sporting events and in fact if you think foul play is at hand you should report it to the Police.
The only place a person can be prevented from taking photographs is on PRIVATE land were the owner has decreed that they will not allow the taking of photographs and this action is CLEARLY displayed
